MEMBERSHIP The Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller is an ecumenical organization that welcomes ladies and gentlemen who believe in Christian principles. Membership is by invitation only, supported by active members committed to assisting the sick and the poor. The membership includes all major branches of Christendom, including Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox faiths. The Order seeks out those people who have a history of service to others, possess strong family ties and are respected in their professions. Aspirants (those who have been approved for membership) are invested in an inspirational and traditional ceremony dating back to the beginning of the Order. During the service the members receive the emblem of the order with a red robe bearing a white Cross of Amalfi. The Investiture services are held in cathedrals and churches of various Christian faiths.
